Mid December brought a trip to the Japan Consulate in Detroit for Visa applications. We have been approved for our trip. I guess they don't check everything. :) Now the packing starts. Our living room is being filled with all essentials for a year away from home. It is definitely an obstacle course to walk through it. At least we don't have to bring furniture. Our new apartment does have a sofa and ottoman in the family room. We felt that was a little sparse, so we made a trip to Ikea for a couple of Poang chairs. They will be very easy to ship.
This week we will also get our international drivers licenses. We will not have a car in Tokyo, but we might want to rent one for "out of the city" exploring. Our friends, Pat and Gary, have booked their flights for their March visit with us.

Getting ready!
My first post! Bill and I had an amazing visit to Tokyo last week. We accomplished quite a bit while we were there. Our main objective was to locate an apartment that we would live in for 2012. We decided on the Prudential Towers. It is a 38 floor building and we will be located on the 26th floor. I'm hoping my dislike for heights will diminish! We rode on the subway system many times. We already own our "Pasmo" card for ease of riding. Just scan and go!
I have never blogged before so this will be a learning experience. Please bear with my novice ability. I'm hoping to share the highlights of our adventure with our friends and family. I will post photos so you can see Tokyo thru my eyes.
My goal is to post at least every 2 weeks. If I find I have something of interest, I, of course, will post it quickly.
Bill and I are looking forward to this adventure and we are so glad to share it with you.
